R.O.Y has been the prominent theme of both Friday and Saturday around here. Red, Orange, and Yellow (and a bit of pink thrown in)..no it’s not Fall…it’s Summer!
It all began on Friday with a steamy 3 mile run. The alarm woke me up at 7am and I immediately knew that a 3 miler was not happening. My legs felt like lead and my entire body begged and pleaded for more sleep. I rescheduled for 11am but thanks to a bunch of assignments, I wasn’t able to get out until 2pm.
Rockin’ the yellow with a sparkly red headband:

(duck face was a must…ducks are yellow after all! Actually they’re not, but the rubber kind are so it’s all good, right?)
The yellow sun was a blazin’

(trying to acclimate to the heat)
Spotted while running – orange flowers:

I also decided to whip out the slow cooker and make a family favorite for dinner:

Sweet potato and black bean chili - sweet, spicy, and hearty.
My ladies and I planned a gathering at The Cheesecake Factory for Friday night, and dressing up wasn’t optional:

(pretty pink flowers served as the perfect back-drop)
Bored in the car while stuck at a red light:

(love dark-tinted red lip gloss!)
I had mushroom flatbread and a delicious beet-goat cheese-arugala salad (unpictured) with an obligatory glass of champagne. There’s always reason to celebrate, you just have to find one!
My bubbly night-cap led to a necessary 10 HOUR SLEEP SESSION. Whoa, clearly my body was still recovering from Vegas.
I’ve been craving a onesie buckwheat pancake for 2 weeks already and I finally had a free morning to make one:

(filled with yellow champagne mangos)
The day continued with a trip to Whole Foods where we loaded up on red raspberries and blueberries:

We clearly are a family of berry lovers! 6 crates of organic raspberries and 3 pints of organic blueberries. Hmm I think we finally have enough to last us through the weekend?
On the way home, we stopped by R.E.I where I loaded up on pink and red energy chews for my long runs:

(flavors include pink lemonade, berry blast, strawberry, lime, and cherry)
I swear one of the reasons I love running so much is because there are so many fun fueling choices! Gels, chews, and Bloks, oh my!
After arriving home, I whipped out the beautiful red stalks of rhubarb that were lurking in the fridge and proceeded to make strawberry-rhubarb jam:

I first fell in love with rhubarb last summer and have been eagerly awaiting its return to grocery stores since.

Ingredients: organic strawberries, rhubarb, and honey. Simple yet fantastic.

Afterwards, my dad and I made our way to Abt to scope out DSLR cameras. I’ve been on the prowl for a camera for many months already and wanted to further investigate my options. After all, it’s a big purchase and I wanted to be 100% comfortable with my final decision. Little did I know…

…that I would actually make the purchase! Yup, you’re looking at a proud owner of a Nikon D5100
I got a killer deal on it (will go into more details later) and I absolutely cannot wait to start using it!
The sis also came over for the night and I’m looking forward to a weekend of Trawffle-making and movie-watching.
What time do you usually wake up on weekends?
How do you fuel for long runs? Any preferences?
What sort of camera do you use?
