Welcome!

My name is Irina and I'm a delightfully obsessive and nerdy twenty-something as well as a food lover, travel junkie, crazy cat lady, shopaholic, teaholic and chocoholic with a newly-found passion for running. I'm still exploring the world with wide eyes and an open mind. Join me on my journey...the more the merrier!

Way Back When…

Go Exploring!

Frames From The Weekend 2/8/2013 – 2/10/2013

Whyyyy is the weekend over already? Unfortunately, I felt a cold coming on so I stayed in all weekend to ward off all potential sickness. Not sure if it worked or not…the last thing I want is to get sick for the second time this year. Blah. Anyway let’s move on to the weekend!

lazy

{Another lazy lazy Friday. I work from home on Fridays and use the instant bed-to-desk excuse to stay in my pajamas all day. I hung out with Dasha, busted her drinking out of the toilet, and spent time finally organizing old high school notebooks. I came across some great memories (I was the ultimate doodler)…stay tuned for a post later this week!}

snowy walk

{I started feeling crappy and congested on Friday, especially after being cooped up indoors all day. My mom came home, immediately saw my pale face, and dragged me for a 3o minute walk outside. Thursday’s beautiful snowfall (after the nasty slush) was still left untouched and my headache dissipated into the refreshing air.}

baby shower

{The majority of my Saturday consisted of more baby shower planning. Anya and I spent five hours creating a diaper “cake” which involved two boxes of diapers…I rolled up a total of 170 diapers to use! The big day is fast approaching and us newbies still have so much to do. Gah growing up is tough.}

food

{Some food highlights from the weekend include plenty of candy, chicken noodle soup, sunflower seeds (a Russian’s favorite snack!), pomegranate, and mushroom tacos. May I also present to you…my new apron! }

shoes

{Let me preface this by saying that I acknowledge my shopping addiction. Luckily, I’m quite the bargain shopper and rarely pay full price for anything. Exhibit one: grey suede booties from DSW ($10 after a 70% off discount & $10 coupon) – these will be perfect for Spring! Exhibit two: the definition of perfection as presented by these nude patent leather Kate Spade heels – these beauties were waiting for me at Nordstrom Rack and their price ($40) was the cherry on top. Exhibit three: a dusty rose wool hat just begging to be worn once the snow starts melting – once again the hat was simply waiting for me…for $7! BAM}

I ended the night sitting on The Bed with my entire family and watching the Grammy Awards. Let’s chat about them for a minute – I LOVED Rihanna’s gorgeous red flowing dress and some of my favorite performances were Mumford & Sons, the Black Keys, Rihanna, and the Lumineers. I also realized that I really enjoy watching award shows, it’s a great time to hang out with family and discuss everything from music to fashion.

Are you a bargain shopper?

Did you watch the Grammy Awards?

♥ Irina

  • Dasha is too cute! I can’t wait to see the finished diaper cake! You guys are dedicated! :) :) :)

    Hope you feel better soon!

    I didn’t watch the Grammys! I need to look up the dresses :)

    • Aww thanks! She’s my daily eye candy ;) The diaper cake was pretty killer…it took a long time (we’re about 90% done!) but it looks amazing! Can’t wait to post photos from the baby shower.

  • oh gosh those black shoes, adorable. I am such a fan of those fruit munchies, I just wish they were less expensive

  • wow, you are a bargain shopper!! I could use a page out of your book! :)

  • I can’t remember the last time I paid full price for something … including my wedding dress. I try to buy most of my clothes at thrift shops with the exception of workout gear, underclothes and shoes.

    We also really only go on vacations when we can get a good deal. I am cheap and not ashamed :)

    • I really need to go thrifting with you because I suck at it. I don’t even know which thrift shops are any good (suggestions are welcome)! I love shopping and taking full advantage of sales but sometimes I fall under the spell of something and pay full price :/ It’s a work in progress!

  • Whoa, can we go shopping together? I’d like to think I’m a good bargain hunter, but since I usually go shopping only when I need something rather than just for funzies, I tend to have a hard time finding 1) what I’m looking for and 2) what I’m looking for on sale. $10 for those boots! Insane! I like to think I’m an excellent penny pincher, but I think my lack of bargain hunting prowess would suggest otherwise haha.

    • Ha yes please! I’d like to think that I’m a good bargain shopper too but the reality is that I’m not…I pay full price much more often than I would like. Sometimes it’s hard to resist something! I go shopping all the time, it’s a bad habit :/ but one that makes me way too happy.

  • P

    For a moment, I thought Dasha was toilet-trained! Haha.

    The Grammys are not my fav award show to watch, but my sis and I are eager about the Oscars coming up!

  • You are such a good shopper! I need you to take me shopping!

    And, I loved the Grammy’s. Fun. The Lumineers. Mumford. Amazing.

  • Bargain shopping for the win! Admittedly, though, I hardly ever seem to make it to the shops in time for them to still have my sizes at a reduced price. I should go shopping with you as an expert :) !
    Also, your apron looks fantastic – how could it not with polka-dots and flowers ;) ?!
    I’m sorry to hear you weren’t feeling well. Has it gotten a bit better yet?

    Oooh, baby showers seem to be such a lot more interesting in the US! When is it taking place?

    • I know the solution to your shopping problem (i.e. not finding your size): go shopping every week! Just kidding…kind of :) I am feeling better, thanks for asking! And trust me…the baby shower planning is causing so much anxiety in my life. It’s this upcoming weekend and I am SO STRESSED out about it! Gahh growing up is hard.

  • Um can you take me shopping? I am awful at finding bargains! Sadly I didn’t watch the Grammys I was just too tired this weekend to even turn on the TV. I hope you are feeling better girlie!

  • Eek! Sorry to hear about you not feeling the best, hun! You’re definitely right that getting some fresh air never fails to clear the head a bit though… and I hope that you’re feeling back to 100% by now :) I also really hope that you’ll take me shopping one day! Holy wow you find some amazing deals. I get lucky and stumble across some pretty awesome deals once in a while, but my bargain shopping could definitely use some work!

    • Wellll maybe one day you will actually come visit Chicago and then we can shop down the famous Magnificent Mile! That would be so much fun :) I think I come across a lot of good deals because I go shopping waaay too much. It’s a habit I’m trying to cut down on especially since I plan to move out in the very near future.

  • Your cat is so funny :) And I LOVE that picture of the snow, the orangeish one. So beatiful.

    I didn’t watch the Grammy’s, I actually didn’t even know they were going on. I’m pretty bad with the pop culture things going on. I don’t really follow them too much. Meh.

    It seems like everyone keeps getting sick. Thankfully, I am not one of those poeple this year around – thank goodness.

    Feel better!
