I owe everyone yet another apology….I disappeared again! Not sure if it’s the approach of Spring but life has gotten very exciting lately and I’m soaking it all in. It was a whirlwind weekend, one of the busiest I’ve had all year, and of course I only managed to take a few photos. Enjoy!

{Friday was filled with friends and celebrations! Lena’s (my lovely pregnant friend) birthday was on Friday and we all met at Benihana for dinner and gift exchanges. Anya and I shared sushi and delicious melt-in-your-mouth tuna. After dinner I drove straight to the city to meet up with two of my old high school friends. We went to two different bars/clubs and danced the night away before calling it quits and heading home way too late. It was the perfect start to the weekend!}

{A few months ago my sister and I gave our mom her holiday gift – an afternoon out to tea. This wasn’t just any plain old tea time, this was the traditional afternoon tea experience. We were originally supposed to go to the Drake Hotel, but ended up at The Peninsula for afternoon tea. I didn’t come in with any expectations but was absolutely blown away with both the presentation and the food. The tiny sandwiches featured combos I’ve never tried before, the desserts were little masterpieces, and the buttery scones (oh the scones) were some of the best I’ve had. We even treated my mom to a glass of champagne because it’s never too early for bubbly! I would love to make afternoon tea a monthly habit…if only it wasn’t so darn pricey…}
I went out again on Saturday night (what is wrong with me?) and spent Sunday recovering from lack of sleep. My run never happened and I’m hating myself for it! Needless to say, I’m not in college anymore and staying out until the wee hours of the morning twice in one weekend really took its toll on my body. I’m exhausted but oh so happy…no complaints here
Have you ever gone for afternoon tea? Because you should…
♥ Irina

The tea looks like it was so much fun! My sis went to a tea place like that for one her friend’s birthdays last year and she wants us all to go. All the desserts look amazing!
My weekend was uneventful except for a race on Saturday…studied and napped pretty much the entire weekend
!
I have never been to a hibachi grill but have always wanted to
Your afternoon tea looks amazing! I’ve never been to a formal tea before but I’d love to try it!
Never apologize for enjoying life my dear
Your weekend sounds awesomely exhausting and that is a good thing. Although I feel you on the two nights in a row thing. I can only go out one night typically. Afternoon tea is something I have never even thought of but now want to try!
Oooh SO jealous of afternoon tea! I went to high tea once when I was in Scotland, and it was amaaaaaaazing (well, ish. We went only a few hours after our plane arrived in Scotland, which meant that we were all ridiculously jet lagged, barely conscious, and mostly starving. A stale pb&j probably also would’ve been amaaaaaaazing under those circumstances haha). But I LOVED the concept and the food! So good! I didn’t realize you could get it in Chicago. Hmm…must find someone to go with me to afternoon tea ASAP.
Tea at the Peninsula sounds amazing… I’ve never been, but it is on my Chicago bucket list!
How fun! I did tea once with my grandma, aunts and Mom. It was a blast!
Aww…My grandma used to take my sister and I out to High Tea when we were younger and it was something I always looked forward to. It’s so much fun to get all dolled up and enjoy a dainty, ladylike afternoon. I’m so happy that you all enjoyed it!
And I totally don’t blame you for disappearing. Life happens! (:
Not being a coffee drinker at all afternoon tea sounds like an amazing experience. I’m not sure we have anything like this around here, though.
There’s no need at all to excuse for having had a fun-filled weekend with friends and family! Don’t let the thought of your missed run get you down.
I’ve disappeared from blogging, too, so no apologies needed as I try desperately to catch up as well!
Afternoon tea is so much fun! I went to the Drake for afternoon tea once and felt so high-society. I agree with you that it would be fun to do regularly if it weren’t so darned pricey!!!
That tuna you mentioned sounds like it was to die for, sigh. Glad that you are getting in such great quality time with friends and family!!!
How is your training going for the Nike Half, btw!?!?!?
